How to Apply

 

The process of enrolment of students into the First Year of the Bachelors programs of the University’s 22 academic Departments, belonging to 5 Faculties, will be accomplished by taking examinations of the admission test under 8 (eight) Units. The Units, the constituent Departments, and the number of Seats are as given below:

QUALIFICATIONS THAT AN APPLICANT MUST HAVE


In order to be eligibile to participate in the examinations of the Admission Test 2011-2012 a student must have passed the HSC/equivalent examination either in the year of 2010 or 2011, and must have met the conditions stated below, depending on the stream he/she comes from:

(a)
Science Background:
The student must have secured GPA of at least 3.25 (with Fourth Subject) in both the SSC/equivalent and HSC/equivalent examinations and the total GPA must be at least 7.0.
The students who have passed O and A levels must have secured grade 'B' in both cases.

(b)
Commerce Background:
The student must have secured GPA of at least 3.0 (with Fourth Subject) in both the SSC/equivalent and HSC/equivalent examinations and the total GPA must be at least 6.5.
The students who have passed O and A levels must have secured grade 'C' in both cases.

(c)
Arts Background:
The student must have secured GPA of at least 3.0 (with Fourth Subject) in both the SSC/equivalent and HSC/equivalent examinations and the total GPA must be at least 6.5.
The students who have passed O and A levels must have secured grade 'C' in both cases.

(d)
The case for A Unit:
An applicant must have met the conditions as stated for students having Arts background, in (c) above.


Prospective students shall apply through SMS using a Prepaid Account of the mobile operator Teletalk, between 10 September (12:01AM) and 15 October (12:00AM), 2011 .

 

The detailed application procedure:
 

Before a prospective student apply, he/she should make sure that

(i) the connection (i.e. the SIM card) being used is a Teletalk's prepaid one

(ii) the connection has enough balance in its account to pay the Applicaton Fee, Tk. 350/- plus the additional charge for sending SMS's, and that

(iii) he/she actually meets the conditions for eligibility, as described in the QUALIFICATIONS THAT AN APPLICANT MUST HAVE section above

Then he/she shall follow the steps explained below with EXAMPLES:


STEP 1:

Go to the Message option of your mobile phone and prepare to write a New Text Message. Write IU, then a space, then write the first three letters of the educaton board of your HSC examination, then a space, then write the ROLL NO. of your HSC examination, then a space, then write the Year you have passed the HSC examination, then a space, then write the first three letters of the educaton board of your SSC examination, then a space, then write the ROLL NO. of your SSC examination, then a space, then write the Year you have passed the SSC examination, then a space, then write the Unit Code (given in the table above) you want to apply for, and finally send the SMS to the number 16222.

EXAMPLE:

This example applies for a student who have passed the HSC examination from the Jessore Board in the year 2011 bearing roll no. 406431, and the SSC examination from the Rajshahi Board in the year 2009 bearing roll no 121298, and he/she wants to apply for the E unit. Here a pair of angle brackets, '<>', stands for a space character.

THE FIRST THREE LETTERS OF THE EDUCATION BOARDS
Barishal - BAR, Chittagong - CHI, Comilla - COM, Dhaka - DHA, Dinajpur - DIN, Jessore - JES, Madrasah - MAD, Rajshahi - RAJ, Sylhet - SYL
Technical Education Board: In the case of Diploma in Commerce, the applicant shall write DIC; in the case of Business Management, the applicant shall write HBM; and in other cases the applicant shall write VOC; Students having Diploma in Business Studies / Management shall write DIB

Students of the Open University and Foreign Students as well shall write OTH

Students who have passed the O and A level examinations shall write the Text Message as in the following description:
Go to the Message option of your mobile phone and prepare to write a New Text Message. Write IU, then a space, then write GCE, then a space, then write the Candidate No. of your A level examination, then a space, then write the Year you have passed the A level examination, then a space, then write the Unit Code (given in the table above) you want to apply for, and finally send the SMS to the number 16222.

EXAMPLE:
IU<>GCE<>345678<>2010<>B
This example applies for a student who have passed the A level examination in the year 2010 bearing Candidate No. 345678, and who wants to apply for the B unit.


STEP 2:

If the SMS sent in the STEP 1 contained correct information, then the applicant will receive an SMS that will show the applicant's Name, amount of the Application Fee, a PIN and will ask whether he/she really agrees to apply. Then the applicant shall reply through another SMS to 16222. In order to do that, he/she will write a New Text Message starting with IU, then a space, then YES, then the PIN provided by Teletalk, then applicant's own mobile no. (any operator) needed for communication, and finally sending the SMS to the number 16222.

EXAMPLE:
IU<>YES<>876543<>01XXXXXXXXX

Here, in the place of 01XXXXXXXXX, the applicant shall write his/her own mobile no.

It should be mentioned that, only if a prospective student agrees to really apply by sending the reply message mentioned in the
STEP 2 above, the Application Fee will be duducted from the balance of the prepaid Teletalk connection he/she used for sending SMS's.

A successful applicant will be notified instantly with an SMS showing his/her
Examination Roll no. of the Admission Test of the Unit he/she applied for.
